Gotu kola (Centella asiatica) is a small, herbaceous, annual plant and is native to wetlands in Asia. Centella asiatica is used as a medicinal herb in Ayurvedic medicine, traditional African medicine, and traditional Chinese medicine.
Centella asiatica has large amounts of pentacyclic triterpenoids including asiaticoside, brahmoside, asiatic acid, and brahmic acid also known as madecassic acid. Other products include centellose, centelloside and madecassoside.
